Attendance

Regular school attendance is an important part of giving your children the best possible start in life. The aim should be to attend 100% of the time. Pupils who miss school frequently can fall behind with their work and do less well academically but they also miss out on social interactions with their peers and their teachers.

At St Teresa's we want to work in partnership with parents to maintain good attendance.

What if my child is poorly?

Please do take a look at the guidance below from Public Health England about the types of illnesses that can be common in children and the recommendations for when your child should not attend school.  If a child has experienced diarrhoea or vomiting then they should not return to school until 48 hours after the last episode.

Please notify us by leaving a message on our school absence line if your child will not be attending school- please state your child's name, class and what the problem is, we do require this information to categorise the absence accurately.

What happens if my child is poorly at school?

If your child is unwell at school you will be contacted to collect them- this would happen if a child has had an episode of vomiting or diarrhoea. If a child complains of feeling unwell a First Aider will attend to them and take a temperature, if your child has a temperature we will contact you.
