SEND

Each child possesses God-given gifts. During their time at St. Teresa’s, we encourage our children to become confident in their abilities so that they can use their gifts to the full. With our children at the centre of all that we do, we aim to foster a love of learning and a sense of belonging and responsibility to our school, parish and the wider community in which we reside.

As a school, our focus and aim is to do everything we can to ensure that every pupil experiences success and has a positive learning journey during their time with us. We recognise that each child has their own individual set of needs and particular learning styles, and teaching is tailored and adapted to meet the needs of all learners.

All staff at St Teresa’s provide a caring environment within which pupils with SEND can achieve their potential. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils with SEND have access to a broad and balanced curriculum. We value the contributions and achievements of all, ensuring that our children are provided with opportunities to experience success and build their self-esteem.

The school’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), Mrs Burrows, is responsible for co-ordinating the provision for children with SEND. Her role includes working with staff, children and families to support our pupils with SEND and our pupils who may have barriers to learning to ensure they receive an outstanding quality of teaching & learning. Mrs Burrows is a fully qualified class teacher with experience of teaching KS1 and KS2 and has worked alongside children with many different needs. She holds the National SENCO award and has been a SENCO for ten years. If you have a question or would like to find out more about SEND at St.Teresa's, you can contact Mrs Burrows via the school office.

Our SEND policy, practice and provision are reviewed annually in compliance with The Disability Equality Duty. Additional information is available in the SEN Information Report.
