OPAL Play

Welcome to Our OPAL Play Journey

We are delighted to be beginning our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) journey.

At our school, we believe that play is an essential part of children's development, wellbeing, and happiness. Through OPAL, we are committed to creating richer, more varied opportunities for all children to enjoy high-quality play during their school day.

The OPAL programme is based on the understanding that children learn and develop important life skills through play. By providing a wider range of play experiences, resources, and environments, we aim to encourage creativity, teamwork, resilience, problem-solving, communication, and independence.

Over the coming months, you will notice changes to our outdoor spaces and play opportunities as we work with pupils, staff, and families to develop an exciting and inclusive play environment. This is a long-term project, and we are excited to see how our playground evolves to meet the needs and interests of all our children.

We look forward to sharing updates on our progress and working together with our school community to make playtimes even more enjoyable, engaging, and rewarding for every child.

Our journey so far:

We held a very successful "bring a thing" day. As always, our families were wonderfully generous and donated items to help us on our OPAL journey.

Thanks to the generosity our parent community via the FOST and a successful inclusion bid from the Local Authority, Mrs Maguire has been ordering and building some fantastic new equipment and play areas for us to explore.
