Introduction
LITTLE FLOWERS
Our Nursery class is called Little Flowers in honour of our patron saint, St. Teresa of Lisieux, who is lovingly known as “The Little Flower.”
St. Teresa believed in doing small things with great love, comparing herself to a simple, humble flower in God’s garden. Just as each flower is unique and beautiful, our nursery celebrates the growth and individuality of every child, nurturing them with love, faith, and care in the spirit of St. Teresa “little way.”
OUR AIMS
At St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, we believe that building strong foundations in learning from the earliest stage is essential. This is why our Nursery education is led by a qualified teacher and dedicated teaching assistants. Our educators have broad and deep experience and knowledge of teaching primary age and early years’ children. Joining St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery will enable your child to develop their own unique voice, explore their faith and curiosity of the world around them.
You have been up until this stage, your child’s first educator. The next step in your child’s learning journey begins in nursery; here they start acquiring the skills and knowledge that help them excel and succeed through their school days. Our Nursery is a happy place filled with excitement and laughter and a place where each child is valued and their uniqueness is celebrated and nurtured. Our firm belief is that early years succeeds when children feel valued and secure.
Good relationships are the key to unlocking each child’s potential and establishing this early bond helps the child feel secure and able to thrive. Our partnership with parents allows for a smooth transition from home to Nursery and an open door policy means parents are kept informed about their child. The Nursery team, led by a qualified teacher, ensures high standards of care and education are maintained. Our communications and interactions with the children are always positive and nurturing. We encourage them to think and make choices. The children learn to realise they are part of a wider school community and grow in confidence.
Safe, stimulating environments enrich the early years experience and provide endless opportunities to deliver a curriculum that ignite each child’s enthusiasm for learning. Our primary aim is to provide a place where the emotional well-being, the physical development and early literacy and numeracy skills grow. Alongside their peers in the Primary School, the children also have the opportunity to know God more clearly through our RE learning.
The children are happy and thrive in our well-resourced provision that offers a free-flow indoor and outdoor learning environment in which children can explore, immerse themselves in the world around them and become involved in collaborative play. Outdoor play is vital for children to be active and healthy, and to develop their physical capabilities. Wellies are an essential part of our uniform.
Our Nursery offers a great start to your child’s formal education and results in very happy, confident children moving into Reception Year, whether this is at St Teresa’s or another school.
